The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit provides a vast array of
effective and efficient services that meet the educational and social
service needs of Montgomery County's 200-plus schools, including the 22
public school districts, more than 170 non public schools, four
vocational-technical schools and the Pennsylvania Department of
Education. Montgomery County Intermediate Unit services are provided
through nine Divisions: Curriculum, Instruction and Professional
Development; Human Resources; Technology and Information Services;
Legislative Services and Grant Development; Financial and Management
Services; Non Public School Services; PaTTAN; Special Education and
Communications.
Transition Services provides a sequence of vocational opportunities for
special needs high school students within Montgomery County. All
programs are supervised by Montgomery County Intermediate Unit (MCIU)
staff through a collaborative approach with school districts, families,
local agencies, businesses and industries.

Transition Coordinating Council
The Montgomery County Transition Coordinating Council works to promote
effective transition for students with disabilities. The council is
made up of parents, school districts, business representatives,
advocates, agency personnel, and Montgomery County Intermediate Unit
staff. Through a collaborative effort, the Transition Council assists
students with disabilities prepare for adult life. The council provides
information to students, parents, educators, businesses, and the
Montgomery County community. It sponsors informational meetings and
programs designed to positively impact the transition process. The
Transition Council meets bimonthly to discuss needs and to develop
creative solutions to problems associated with transition.
