Mental Retardation Services
Through quality services and supports, the goal of MRS, and its provider agencies, is to support people with mental retardation to: find jobs and homes of their choosing; learn computer skills; be welcomed by faith communities; take classes at Community College; use assistive technology; access quality medical care; enjoy Philadelphia's many cultural opportunities; have an appropriate educational program; join with neighbors in town watch and community gardening; and vote...that is to be valued members of society leading Everyday Lives.

Mission is to create, promote, and enhance the supports and services available to individuals with mental retardation.

Individuals will have access to quality supports and services that foster:

The Office of Mental Health (OMH), a core component of Philadelphia's Department of Behavioral Health, has long provided a crucial mental health safety net to Philadelphia's 1.5 million residents. OMH provides administrative, fiscal, strategic and program planning management for services for adults with severe mental illness and children with severe emotional disturbances. OMH contracts with treatment providers to bring supplemental mental health services to more than 50,000 adults and children annually, many of whom require intensive and specialized care.
