Mission Statement
The Chester County Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation administers publicly funded services in the areas of Mental Health, Mental Retardation, and Early Intervention. Guided by compassion, respect, and a commitment to consumer choice, we are dedicated to providing services and supports which help people lead quality lives.

Mental Health Overview
The Chester County Office of Mental Health serves county residents who live with serious and persistent mental illness. With an annual budget of about $16,000,000 the Office uses federal, state and county funds to provide services to approximately 5000 eligible individuals each year.

Mental Retardation Overview
The Chester County Office of Mental Retardation serves about 2000 county residents each year. With an annual budget of $50,000,000 the Office uses federal, state and some county funds to provide services and supports to individuals and their families.

The County provides Supports Coordination service at no charge for any Chester County resident with mental retardation who registers with the program. The county subcontracts with local agencies to provide other services. Services focus on the individual and his/her needs and desires to reach maximum potential.
